What you will need:
Tape measure
A friend to measure you
Pencil
Paper
Tight fitting clothes that won't add bulk, I usually wear a fitted tank top and shorts or a swimsuit.
In the picture below is where you want to measure. You have your bust, natural waistline, hips and inseam.
When measuring the bust you'll take both arms and lift them straight out to your sides at shoulder height, like a kid playing airplane. Then your friend will take the tape measure and wrap it around the fullest part of your bust. Then you will lower your arms and just breath normally; don't poke your chest out and stand up straight. Write down your bust measurement and move to the waist.
Your natural waist line is normally slightly above your belly button. The easiest way to find that is place your hands on our hips and bend sideways, keep your hips parallel to the floor. Keep your legs straight and stand up tall. When you bend your friend should see the crease in your sides. This is your natural waist line and should measure here with the tape measure. Arms should be down at your sides ,continue to write this measurement down.
Now measuring your hips, this should be again at the fullest part of the bottom half of your body. Wrap the tape measure around with hands at your side and write your measurement down.
Your full body measurements should read like this for example- 34-27-39.
The inseam is simply the length of your legs and this comes in handy to know if you need short, regular or long pants. I have a 33 inch inseam so I normally need long pants but it also depends on your preference and the designer who made the pants. Some brands that are long they make their pants for the extreme long inseam and then I'll have to get regular.
There are two ways to get your inseam- spread your legs shoulder width apart and as shown in the picture above go from the inside of your leg and go down to where your ankle stops. This is the inseam of your legs and best fitting length of pants. Now if you don't have someone to measure this for you, what I have done before is take a pair of pants that you love the length of and measure them the exact same way. Lay them flat on the floor and from one of the inside legs start at the crotch of the pants and measure down to the bottom leg, hem of the pants.
That's pretty simple : ) now you have your body measurements to go off of when you need fitted for clothing and if you're into it it's something to keep track of if your starting to loose weight and want to see physical body changes.
