Holiday fashion outfit tips

The holidays are here and you have parties, occasions and meeting your boyfriends parents... yeah that last one is stressful enough. So I have created a look book to give you some ideas, tips and options to hopefully make whatever occasion you are attending a little bit more fun.

You will see a section for the office Christmas party, the family picture day, and two options on how to dress for meeting your boyfriends parents; one is more dressy casual the other is more laid back, comfortable but still fashionable casual. There will be more to come for gift ideas for the holiday season and a look book to get ready to bring in the new year.

Just click below to see the Holiday Lookbook

Zone perfect bar: Greek Yogurt Vanilla Berry

I will be doing a review on a free sample I got from a great site called Influenster. Influenster hands out 100% free, what they call vox boxes, full of samples for people to test out. Each moth a vox box has a theme and the one I have received this past week is the Good vox box. It's filled with healthy snacks, diet pills and great other products. But I will be focusing on the Zone perfect nutritional bar the flavor is greek yogurt vanilla berry.

I am a yogurt, let alone Greek yogurt fan. So I was excited to try these as I have never heard of them. I do like vanilla but was never a fan of berry but I always give everything a chance. A little about the bar. It's only 180 calories and that works for me because I often count calories to stay in a healthy lifestyle, it is made with Greek yogurt, 12g of protein and 3G of fiber. This bar is something that I would use for an in between snack maybe not everyday because you don't want to get burned out on it after a while. But they do have three other flavors, chocolate and raspberry. I'm not a huge fan of chocolate but I would try the chocolate one next rather than the raspberry bar.

So lets get done to it. The bar for me is not something I can personally get down easy. Like many bars I've tried and tried to eat it hasn't done it, flavors wise, for me. The berry flavor saves the taste a little bit. It's sweet so it can help if someone has that sweet tooth but it may seem slightly tangy from the sweetness of the berries afterwards, but I don't know if the Greek yogurt should be put into a bar form, it leaves me with a taste of chalk in my mouth after you get the bar down. That just might be a deal breaker for me. It even doesn't have as much yogurt on it as the picture does and to some that's a big deal. I think having the yogurt like you see may help with the taste but it might make it worse being chalky tasting. So my verdict I'm not 100% in love with this zone perfect bar but I'm willing to try another flavor. Check out zone perfect bars for yourself at their website at http://zoneperfect.com/ shoot them a like on Facebook https://www.facebook.com/ZonePerfect

Come join the crowd and be an influenster check out influenster.com or shoot me your email and I can send you and invite.

I received these products complimentary from Influenster for testing purposes.

Pull off color blocking & defining your waist

I'd like to thank everyone for participating and discussing the blog posts I had about finding your right body shape. I'm also very happy with the feedback I got from ladies who found it inspiring and helpful and have tried out some of the tips I gave, it makes me feels great that I touched at least one person out there.
Well for this blog I will be teaming up with Josie from a fanpage on facebook called OMF- Open Mind Fashion. Give her a like and tell her I sent you http://Facebook.com/openmindfashion (copy and paste if needed)

OMF is a fanpage all about fashion talk. A place for us girls to see what's new, what's in and learn something from one another. Well I'm teaming up with her to give you ladies more ways to work with color blocking and defining your waist line. This was the topic in the apple shape blog, wearing clothing that separates your body by either color blocking or wearing a waist belt not only gives you a defined waist line that the apple shape does not naturally show but it will make you look more slim and in some cases taller.

Josie took the time to get some great dresses from Piperlime that I agree, would be great to color block your waist and give you that slimming look.
This dress is my top favorite simply because it defines the waist in a great way while color blocking. The two green color blocks makes the human eye go inward and then it makes the eye to look up and down. This is great because if the eye goes side to side the outfit will most likely make you appear bigger. The placement of the color is great, the blue is on the bottom to cover your tummy and hips if that's a big area for you and the green is slightly lighter and points at your natural waistline in which you want to emphasize. The white is the lightest because as in every body shape you want your bust to not be hidden and white brings the entire dress together.
Stripes are normally said to be a no no on well most of women but this dress actually can do some good mainly because of the stripes, how they are placed and the color of them. Black and white are two great colors to color block with because the black can disguise the parts of your body that need to be slim and the white will bring attention to the parts that need be. I like how the main point is the center, waist line, of this dress. As you can see as the dress gets to the center the black lines get thicker and that effect is what gives you the defined waistline in this dress because then as the lines go all the way up then down the white lines get bigger drawing the eye to your legs and to your face and away from people looking at your side to side but again up and down which could make you look slimmer and taller. So a good plus about lines they need to be thicker around the waist and smaller towards the legs and bust and darker color stripes with a lighter color will give you that defined waist line and lose that fear of stripes.

This dress color blocks with a waist line color of black to show where the natural waistline is and the black on the sides will hide the hips. The accent red on the bottom of the dress will give you a long look. Now the V neck cut of the neckline is great to accent with an embelished necklace that will bring the human eye to look up at you because it's better to have someone looking up and down your silhouette compared to sideways which will mak you look bigger. A knee length dress or skirt is perfect because its more complimentary to any body shape.

Give a big thanks to Josie at Open Mind Fashion (OMP) and be sure to check out their fanpage on everything fashion. http://Facebook.com/openmindfashion

These are some pointers for defining your waistline and looks that will make you look long and slim.

How to properly measure you body

Trying on clothing can be a pain especially with clothes fitting differently at every other store that you go to. So in this post ill give you some advice on how to properly measure your body. It's good to know your measurements because then you will have a better idea of what your whole body measures at so then t can be easier knowing what sizes to stay between.

What you will need:
Tape measure
A friend to measure you
Pencil
Paper
Tight fitting clothes that won't add bulk, I usually wear a fitted tank top and shorts or a swimsuit.

In the picture below is where you want to measure. You have your bust, natural waistline, hips and inseam.

When measuring the bust you'll take both arms and lift them straight out to your sides at shoulder height, like a kid playing airplane. Then your friend will take the tape measure and wrap it around the fullest part of your bust. Then you will lower your arms and just breath normally; don't poke your chest out and stand up straight. Write down your bust measurement and move to the waist.

Your natural waist line is normally slightly above your belly button. The easiest way to find that is place your hands on our hips and bend sideways, keep your hips parallel to the floor. Keep your legs straight and stand up tall. When you bend your friend should see the crease in your sides. This is your natural waist line and should measure here with the tape measure. Arms should be down at your sides ,continue to write this measurement down.

Now measuring your hips, this should be again at the fullest part of the bottom half of your body. Wrap the tape measure around with hands at your side and write your measurement down.

Your full body measurements should read like this for example- 34-27-39.
The inseam is simply the length of your legs and this comes in handy to know if you need short, regular or long pants. I have a 33 inch inseam so I normally need long pants but it also depends on your preference and the designer who made the pants. Some brands that are long they make their pants for the extreme long inseam and then I'll have to get regular.

There are two ways to get your inseam- spread your legs shoulder width apart and as shown in the picture above go from the inside of your leg and go down to where your ankle stops. This is the inseam of your legs and best fitting length of pants. Now if you don't have someone to measure this for you, what I have done before is take a pair of pants that you love the length of and measure them the exact same way. Lay them flat on the floor and from one of the inside legs start at the crotch of the pants and measure down to the bottom leg, hem of the pants.

That's pretty simple : ) now you have your body measurements to go off of when you need fitted for clothing and if you're into it it's something to keep track of if your starting to loose weight and want to see physical body changes.

At Keaton Row and me as a stylist I offer to help women find their measurements as well as finding their body shape; apple, pear, hourglass or straight. At the beach or the pool get these looks.

This summer should be full of sun, fun and well fashion of course. So of course I made up a lookbook for this summer fun. Who says you can't be fashionable when your out swimming, well or just laying out looking cute which us girls do pretty well.

Some small tips for summer beach or poolside fashion. Make sure to wear your sunblock of course everyone likes a nice tan but be smart about when too much sun is enough. Also accessories can be worn out but don't over do it, sometimes a big bulky necklace can take fun from being out, as I've noticed from experience sometimes you feel more hot as if you have a turtle neck on and that just gets too uncomfortable and may cut your beach time in half.
Go basic with the makeup as well, it's okay to skip the concealer. What I've done is just used a small bronze powder very light brush once over my face but I never skipped on the eye liner or mascara. The trick to that use the waterproof kind ; )

I'll give you a little look at what you can find in my beach ready lookbook, to see the full lookbook (there is 6 pages) click on this link, or copy and paste into your browser. https://keatonrow.com/lookbook/518f019da93e875e460000bd/cover

I'm super excited about this lookbook I put together. Get ideas from two pieces, accessories to wear, bags to carry. What's even better you can shop straight from this lookbook and it gives you the sizes, brands and prices right there in the lookbook. If you want a personalized summer look thats easy too, just contact me or sign up free for me to work one on one with you.

How to have your own personal stylist.

Having a personal stylist doesn't mean that you have to pay a lot of money to have them. You also don't have to be a celebrity, I work with moms, teachers, business women and women just simply needing help to add to their wardrobe. I work one on one with clients for any occasion or its not an occasion just a time to go shopping. The great thing about it it's all online and to get the looks you want it's free; you pick which items you want to buy from the looks I create for you. But there is NO obligation that you have to buy.

I work for Keaton Row, a new way to shop and have your own personal stylist. You make a free account and all your information is only sent to your stylist so they know what you like and don't like and ways to communicate with you to get you the best possible looks for you.

You will get what is called a lookbook, it is all categorized so its easy for you to shop and view your items, I the stylist pick items for you based on the information you give me and when I talk to you through email, you then can shop straight from there and items ship directly to you. Keaton Row offers styles from name brands such as Michael Michael Kors, Jessica Simpsom, Steve Madden and many more, the catalog has over 2000+ items to choose from like purses, sunglasses, shoes, clothing and even gift ideas. Rectangle shape: the straight and narrow

The second most common body shape is the rectangle body type. There is no definition in curves from shoulder to hip. Most women will have little to no bust hence why many call it the boyish shape. It's common for the rectangle group to gain weight in the midsection, arms and upper thighs but their best asset are their lower legs.

Being a straight shape you can really play with many textures, prints and colors; as long as you don't over due it. This is so because you'll be adding an appearance of curves, a waistline and volume. To define your waist line tips with a wind v-neck, u-neck or off the shoulder are great. Then you can add a wide dark colored waist belt at your natural waistline. To determine your natural waistline bend sidewise with your hands on your hips, where your torso creases is where your natural waistline will be. You don't have to always wear a waist belt though. find tops that have an empire waistline or anything that nips at the waistline.

For curve appeal even wearing the right bra can help you out. Even if you don't think you need one, get fitted for the right one. You can break up your body by wearing a print on the top and dark colored bottoms. Like I said before you can play around with texture such as ruffles or a shirt that has gathers, things like this will add volume to your body shape along with jewelry. Also the color possibilities and prints are endless. Usually if another body shape wears prints on the tops or bottoms it will make them look too big, but for you, you're of course trying to add that volume so try the brights and try the flowers and animal prints. Simply find what works for you and skin tons can play in what colors and prints look best on you as well.

Your pants and skirts are along the same lines; bubble skirts, flare leg hem, wide leg hem, mid low rise waist etc. the list goes on. When getting anything from shorts, pants to skirts try and find them with details. The one bottoms you want to stray from are the low rise pants and trouser these will elongate your torso and just might make you look smaller with less curves.

Any questions please feel free to ask I will answer the best I can. I am no expert all my information has come from what I learned from modeling, school, designing clothing myself, and styling clothes for clients I have. It's fully up to you if you agree with what I have to say or want to take all my information and use it as a base to start learning what shape you are. Even if you know more or you are a rectangle shape and you found something that works for you I encourage you to share, I take as much input and advice as the next person.

Feel free to join in on discussions on my fanpage
